You braid the straps with Scheepjes Larra, a 100% mercerised Cotton yarn with a beautiful shine in a fingering weight and Scheepjes Twinkle, a yarn with a subtle glitter, made from 75% Cotton and 25% Polyester. The Kumihimo disk made of sturdy foam plastic makes braiding easy. Fix the yarn in one of the 32 slits around the disc, so that they do not get tangled during braiding.
